abstract

conclusions with regards to the continuous changing in causative microorganisms isolated from patients with uti and antibiotic sensitivity patterns, it is recommended that bacterial sensitivity patterns in populations are determined in any region annually. . objectives this study aimed to detect and also compare the frequency and drug resistance pattern of gram negative bacteria isolated from patients with community-acquired utis in isfahan. patients and methods in this cross-sectional descriptive study, 702 samples from 476 females and 226 males referred to medical centers in isfahan city from june to september 2011 were collected, we investigated the urine cultures and antibiotic sensitivity of the isolated organisms were measured. results urinary infectious was detected in 203 persons. the most prevalence isolated bacteria were escherichia coli 138 (68%), followed by klebsiella spp. (13%). antibiotic resistance pattern of gram negative bacteria isolated was investigated. among e. coli isolates the most antibiotic sensitivity and resistance were related to nitrofurantoin, cotrimoxazol and nalidixic acid, trimetsulpha respectively. klebsiella spp. isolates were the most antibiotic sensitive to cotrimoxazol and cipropheloxacin and the most antibiotic resistant to trimetsulpha, cipropheloxacin and nalidixic respectively. background urinary tract infection (uti) is a common bacterial disease which may cause chronic renal failure and hypertension. many reports suggest that the rate of antibiotic resistance to infectious organisms is increasing.

Antibiotic Resistance of Isolated Gram Negative Bacteria From Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) in Isfahan

Background: Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a common bacterial disease which may cause chronic renal failure and hypertension. Many reports suggest that the rate of antibiotic resistance to infectious organisms is increasing. Objectives: This study aimed to detect and also compare the frequency and drug resistance pattern of Gram negative bacteria isolated from patients with community-acquired...

Antagonistic activity of Streptomyces gresiofuscus PTCC1628 against isolated Gram negative bacteria from Urinary Tract Infections

Antibiotics are the best known products of actinomycete. Over 5,000 antibiotics have been identified from the cultures of Gram positive and Gram-negative organisms, and filamentous fungi, but only about 100 antibiotics have commercially been used to treat human, animal and plant diseases. The genus, Streptomycete, is responsible for the formation of more than 60% of known antibiotics. Bacteri...

Prevalence and Antibiotic Resistance Pattern of Bacteria Isolated from Urinary Tract Infections in Amol Public Hospitals: A Brief Report

Background and purpose: Descriptive knowledge of the epidemiology of bacteria causing urinary tract infection (UTI) and their antibiotic resistance patterns is of great importance in evidence-based decision-making of physicians and health planners in a region. This study investigated the prevalence and resistance pattern of bacteria isolated from urinary tract infections in Amol, north of Iran,...

Antibiotic Resistance Pattern of Gram-Negative Bacteria in Gorgan

Abstract Background and Objective: The excessive use of broad-spectrum antibiotics will lead to drug resistance of microorganism and specially nosocomial organisms. Because of high incidence of antibiotic resistance in hospitals, we aimed to study antibiotic resistance to gram negative bacteria. Material and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on the data of biological sampl...
